The Chinese New Year is almost here and I know many of you are expecting my yearly recommendations!

What will the Yang Wood Dragon Year energy be like?

The Wood Dragon is a much awaited year as the dragon is a symbol of authority, magnanimity and righteousness. Its strength is magnified by the fact that Wood represents abundance and growth and will bring about new ideas, new projects and financial growth. Yang means boldness and big ideas will supplant timidity and small mindedness.

One can wonder how it’s even possible to conceive that 2024 would be just and abundant given the many tragedies occurring in the world right now with multiple wars in different parts of the world, and internal cultural wars in many regions around the world?

The answer is that both can coexist.

Environmental consciousness will continue to expand, as the same time as private interests will continue their quest to pollute so they can profit from our planet.

The dragon is not a unifying force, unfortunately. Big ideas and big consciousness shifts will coexist with self-interest and some lower frequency people’s desires to keep the status quo. However, the idealist camp should prevail.

The last Wood dragon year was in 1964, where we saw the best and the worst in humanity. It was an eventful year, with racial protests in many cities, Civil Rights Act being signed, The Beatles mania, Lyndon Johnson escalating violence in Vietnam and the obscuring of truth that resulted from JFK’s assassination. The best and the worst of human qualities were on display. It was not a peaceful year.

Wood is an optimistic element, however, which means that the deployment of crowds behind strong beliefs is at the forefront. Some driven individuals will rally people around world peace, environmental and social justice and more. The planet is hurting from humananity’s actions and the Wood element will make it clear we need to better preserve trees and water. The dragon can envision a better future for all. Exploited minorities will have a strong voice and social progress will ensue.

People who are truthful and magnanimous will prevail - not those after their own gain.

In the romance sector, Pigs, Dogs, Rats, Dragons and Monkeys are going to be the luckiest zodiac signs in 2024.

Now, please see below my main recommendations for 2024 so that your home can emanate the best vibrations possible in the Wood Dragon Year.

I will describe the positive and negative sectors in your home, according to the Flying Stars method (not a method I use year round, because of its complexity and its changing nature, but I find it useful at the beginning of each Chinese year or when moving into a new home).

During the year of the Wood Dragon, the Flying Stars will make apparent that the following areas are best to avoid/ not activate: the South, the South East, North West, the Center and the West.

The best way not to disturb those problematic areas is by avoiding drilling, construction or renovations in those sectors of your home. But if you have to build or landscape in any of these sectors, you can place a six-rod metallic wind chime outside the home, near the area that is being renovated or landscaped.

See below the lucky and unlucky directions for 2024 according to the Flying Stars.

It should be noted that people living in apartments will have to take their compass directions, and combine some traditional Feng Shui with front door Feng Shui. For example, if you live in an apartment and your front door is in Career, but also in the South, some cures might seem less intuitive to you. Use the compass to guide you and while you can keep your front door Feng Shui the same, you will just add the cures mentioned below in the right cardinal directions.

Positive areas in 2024 (activate with a water feature, crystals, mirrors, chimes, beautiful decorations):

East - 1 Annual star (enhance your wealth luck with a water feature like a fish tank or a water fountain, gold objects and plants)
South West- 9 Annual star (the color red and candles can be used to attract more wealth as well as plants)
North- 8 Annual star (decorate with wealth symbolisms, boats, water representations or a fountain)
North East- 6 Annual star (the traditional 8-coins attached with a red ribbon can be used there or any round metallic object).

Negative areas in 2024:

You can place a salt water cure in some of those areas (South East or West would be my recommendations), which will absorb negative energies. In addition, here are a few more cures:

South East (Sickness ) - 2 Annual star (place round metallic objects)
South (Betrayals)- 7 Annual star (back obsedian egg or bracelet)
West (Misfortune) - 5 Annual star (any metallic object)
Center (Anger) –3 Annual star (green jade, a plant, but mostly keep the center undisturbed).
North West - 4 Annual star (reduce its impact with fire or earthy objects)
